Researchers found that a 17-item questionnaire correctly
identified 84% of children with autism spectrum disorder who had
gastrointestinal disorders, such as diarrhea, constipation and reflux disease.
The findings, published in the Journal of Autism and Developmental Disorders,
are helpful because such children sometimes have trouble describing their
symptoms and GI problems "can be painful and disabling and they can have
profound effects on a child's behavior," Dr. Kara Margolis said in a statement. United
