Researchers found that 1.9% of US children and teens had a milk
allergy, and while milk allergy was the most prevalent type of food allergy
among those younger than age 5, the rate dropped as youths aged and some
children outgrew the allergy. The findings, presented at the American College
of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology annual meeting, showed that epinephrine
auto-injectors were only prescribed to 26% of those with milk allergies, the
lowest rate among the nine leading food allergies.
